Washers/Dryers, Household Batteries, Microwaves, Vacuums, Appliances With Refrigerant (Dehumidifiers, Air-Conditioners, Refrigerators, Watercoolers, Etc), Or Lightbulbs.

Q: When can I drop off my e-waste at your facility?

A: During normal business hours, currently Monday through Friday 09:00 am to 03:00 pm; Saturday 09:00 am to 12:00 pm and Sunday Closed. (Please see main page and/or events for holiday closings)

Q: How do I know if you will accept my stuff?

A: We accept any items that have to do with electronics.

Q: What is free to recycle?

A: Practically anything that operated by cord or batteries, Including televisions!
** Please see restricted items at the top.

Q: Will my hard drive data be destroyed?

A: Yes, GME offers Free Guaranteed Data Destruction using DoD 5220.22-M methods at the
Drop-Off center.

Q: How is the data on my hard drive physically destroyed?

A: Each hard drive’s information platters are punched out and can be also shredded upon request.

Q: Are my electronics that I drop off getting sent to China or developing countries?

A: NO, electronics are processed in West Hartford at the Green Monster e-Cycling Facility and with approved down stream vendors.

Q: Does GME put any electronic waste in the landfills?

A: No, GME has a strict Zero Landfill policy.

Q: Is there any limit to how much e-waste I can drop off?

A: NO, you can drop off one piece or even a thousand pieces.

Q: Is GME for West Hartford residents only?

A: No, anybody from anywhere can use the free drop-off center, residential and commercial.

Q: Is swapping electronic items allowed?

A: No.

Q: Does GME offer Guaranteed Data Destruction for business?

A: Absolutely, however, it is a pay service. Please inquire within for business data destruction. We also now offer on-site data destruction and media shredding for businesses. Call for more info.

Q: Will you come to my home to pick up my items?

A: Due to time constraints, we cannot offer residential pickup. Please feel free to use our quick and easy free drop-off during normal business hours.

Q: What are acceptable forms of payment?

A: We accept CASH or CHECK.

Q: Will you destroy my hard drive in front of me?

A: Yes, however, due to time constraints, there is a $20 fee.
